Proof of address for grant - independent mature candidate

To apply for grant as an independent mature candidate one of the conditions is that you must account for where you lived from october of the previous year that your starting college.

You do this by providing a letter from the prtb or a utility bill in your name which is seemingly the only proof the county council will accept.

For a 4 month period during this time I paid my rent to another tenant in the house who paid that into the landladys account. She refused to give me the landladys contact details and in the end it turns out she was shaving a bit of rent for herself and thats why she didnt give out any details.

All utility bills were in the landladys name.

So I have neither a prtb letter or a utility bill.

I have emailed a number of people in the department of education, the county council and threashold explaining my situation and asking for advice. I will post any advice they give here as I expect there is a large number of future students in a similar situation.

If you faced a similar situation in the last couple of years can you share how you handled the situation, who you went to for advice and what the final outcome was?
