    Hi
I have a spanish student arriving for 3 weeks. Can anyone advise what kind of food/meals I should have available?

I would say do what you usually do!

Make sure there are plenty of snacks for the student to help themselves to (fruit, yoghurts, granola bars, popcorn) - nothing worse than staying at someone else's house and being starving between meals. Give 2 or 3 choices for cereals in the morning, and bread for toast, as well yoghurt, fresh fruit etc. After the first week you will see what they like to eat and can adjust your shopping accordingly.

For packed lunches, make meats, salads and breads available...and maybe the odd cold tortilla (potato omlette)!

For dinners, make your usual dinners - it's good for them to experience a typical Irish diet. :)

We've had students for over 15 years coming to my parents house and it's always just normal food we'd eat at home. I think there's only every been about 3 fussy eaters.

yeah, give them the irish cuisine mixed with a few safe bets for any teenager- pizza/pasta.
my friend lives in spain and is married to a spanish guy and she found eating over there quite difficult as they eat light in the morning and lots of snacky things during the day with the main meal quite late at night.... when i was in spain i found that they eat LOADS of ham or ham and cheese sandwiches ( which is a crusty baguette not sliced pan style bread) and when i was in my local corner shop the other day i spied a few girls looking at the HAM selection and stocking up!

A quick visit to Lidl will sort you out. First most Spanish I have met eat ham and cheese with bread for breakfast, oh and cola cao. For ham get prosciutto and stuff like that. Plenty of fruit, yogurt, nuts and juice for snacks. For bread, the par baked stuff that they can bake up themselves when they want fresh, Olive Oil rather than butter, plenty of tomatoes and olives. Maybe some balsamic vinegar. All relatively cheap in Lidl or Aldi.
For dinner, what you have yourself will go, but try to get some garlic salt so they can add it where they want and put the Olive oil on the table as well. They also would normally have a salad of green leaf, radish, pepper and cucumber on the side with dinner.
Of course Pizza, crisps and chocolate are universal :-)

Maybe bring them along to the supermarket with you to pick out some things. I always love going to supermarkets in other countries.
