Fr McNamara went on to say: 'That's going a bit too far when you think that those games are clashing with Saturday evening vigil Masses which are held in most villages and towns. I noticed numbers in (St. Mary's) Cathedral were down on Saturday evening.

I'm betting more people go to the matches than mass anyway - regardless of times. Change the mass times.

Eh, why don't they move mass times so?

There is a way out of that one........ show it at mass. :D

(At least you won't have any one hanging out at the back of the church)

I'm no Christian but isn't mass on at 12?

Can't they just get text alerts while they're at the match? :pac:

He blames GAA for the lack of people going to mass? Sure GAA is just as boring as mass, at least there are hot women in mass...

I thought the child molesting priests would have had something to do with the attendance?

Bit of rivalry i'd say, the GAA are the only organisation in Ireland with nearly as much money as the church.

Wow what a clash of culture we have in ireland, im just trying to imagine a priest in dublin coming out with this.

I could have probably played for Dublin but I hate the GAA with all my life. The Sport itself is interesting to play but how can anyone watch it? Hurling and Football are terrible as spectacles and the crowds at GAA games are so dull.

Perhaps father, if you apologised for 2,000 years of rape, theft and interfering with people's lives, then you wouldn't have to worry about what times they schedule GAA matches for.

Down with this sort of thing.

Well Lady Gaga is playing in Kerry this weekend, so this priest will have his sporting parishioners watching Kerry and his Lady Gaga fans in Killarney watching her.

They actually have LCD screens for mass in certain places in that cathedral because it's so big and all over the place.

One of those watches that can change channels would come in handy there!
