42 Attempts on Hitler's Life?

In fairness, I think the more generally accepted number is 17, but some people who loosely define the term 'assassination attempt' claim it was as high as 42.

Anyway, I was watching Valkyrie and I was wondering if there's a catalogue on-line anywhere with all these attempts documented? I've googled and I can find five or six, but nowhere near 17 or 42.

Anyone have any ideas?

There used to be great website on all the attempts on Hitler's life floating around a few years ago. It was somebody's masters disertation.

It's gone now though.

But, yes, there was a huge number of attempts of the life of the fuhrer, most of which failed by pure good fortune, on behalf of Hitler that is.

I think I remember that site, from what I recall they were counting some far out half-assed attempts, like RAF bombing raids which were diverted on flimsy intelligence, and others including the one guy from switzerland who got on a train to Berchtesgarted with a map and a penknife (executed by gestapo from what I recall).

Regarding credible, potentially successful attempts there were only 6 or 7 if I remember correctly.

That is going by todays standards, I think there was a guy during the bush years who showed up at the gates of the whitehouse with a pistol, I don't think the charges he faced included 'attempt to assasinate pres bush' but I could be wrong on that.

Anyone know how many attemps there was against Stalin or Churchill even if any,I read once on one about Stalin called Operation Zeppelin where some Germans fly in behind enemy lines but I think they got captured if memory serves me right
