Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette have signed up to star in ‘Scream 4’.

The married couple are looking forward to reprising their roles in the horror franchise in which they first met when they starred alongside each other in 1996’s ‘Scream’.

David – who played Deputy Dewey Riley in the original film - said: “I fell in love with my wife on ‘Scream’, so the opportunity to bring Dewey back to life and for my wife to play that really b****y character again, it’s just going to be really fun. It’s just great.”

Courteney, 45, played TV reporter Gale Weathers in the original ‘Scream’. She and David also appeared in sequels ‘Scream 2’ and ‘Scream 3’.

David, 37, hopes the team behind the original film will reunite for the next instalment.

He added: “Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct.”

Although main star Neve Campbell has reportedly turned down the opportunity to reprise her role, David would love her to change her mind and return.

He said: “I hope Neve does it. I really hope so.”

I have mixed feelings about this. Personally, I loved the Scream trilogy. The original Scream was my favourite movie for years. They're very clever slasher films not afraid to take the piss out of themselves, and I wouldnt mind seeing old ghostface on the screen one more time. No doubt there'll be some Jamie Kennedy-esque character (if not another message from Randy himself from beyond the grave) warning that there are no rules once the trilogy has been broken. It would be great if Neve Campbell would decide to take part. Here's hoping...

    Oh dear.

Scream was a badly needed shot in the arm of horror.
Scream 2 was a carbon copy devoid of anything interesting.
Scream 3 was a pile of piss from start to finish.

Scream 4 will suck donkey balls.
    End of.

I'm not sure if it was parody or hypocrisy, but didn't they make a joke in one of the screams about sell out low quality franchises. When they were talking about the movie in a movie Stab series. That is the ultimate irony, becoming what you satired.

That was 3 I think although I could be wrong because the last time I saw it was when it got released on video and rented it in 00/01.I barely made it through 1 sitting and have never had the inclination to watch it a second time.

What made the original so cool was that it had a hugely self deprecating style, massively referenced 80s slashers so the horror fans got a kick and had a total WTF ending.

The sequels along with Urban Legend,I Know What You Did Last Summer etc etc were all the same and we knew exactly what to expect. They took a very inventive premise and buggered it until there was nothing left.

I have the upmost respect for Wes Craven because of movies like Last House on the Left,Nightmare on Elm Street and The Hills Have Eyes but the man turned into a whore years ago and it seems nowadays he is happy to let royalty cheques roll in without putting any effort into his solo projects.

Scream was actually the last decent movie he directed.

Movies like Predator 3, Scream 4, Transformers 2, are beeing made only for money. I think that I will not spent my money to see it in the Cinema
