    Hi Guys,

Am I correct in thinking that third party insurance does not cover injuries to yourself in the event of an accident which you are at fault for? whereas comprehensive does? Im not talking about the car or other passengers as I know other passengers are covered by both types of insurance and the car is covered by comprehensive.

    Thanks.

Neither covers injuries to the insured (well, maybe a pittance - €5k for losing a leg or so).

TP does cover injuries to others. Not sure whether it'd cover your injuries though - I'd suspect it does. It definitely doesn't cover damage to your car though. Check with your insurance company to be sure.

Does comprehensive not cover your medical bills in the case of an accident that was your fault? It's the only reason I have it tbh.

Its just I cannot ring them now and wanted to get a understanding generally of what is covered (obviously it depends on the policy of course).

Is comprehensive really just about covering your car then?

Thats upto Solictors or personal injury Specialists Or if you had private health care Vhi etc..

Insurance Companys only look after the Car(s).

TPFT....only covers Third Party (not you or your car and also NO insurance covers injury to driver....or else you'd have people in financial trouble deliberatly crashing their cars to claim compensation for injuries!), Fire and Theft of your Vehicle.

Comprehensive covers Third Party, Fire & Theft but also windscreen cover and cover on your OWN car and usually breakdown cover etc.
