Moving a folder from a MAC to a Windows Server

I wanted to move a shared folder from a MAC (that has been setup as a server) onto a Windows Server machine. I heard that there could be a file name issue, as in the transfer will stop if it gets to a file name that it doesn't recognize. Is there a program that could help me or should the transfer (via external HDD) be smoother then I think?

There was a program called PcMacLan, but I have never used is, so I do not know all of its features, but might be able to assist.

I don't think it is free, but you may be able to get a trial version.

How big is the folder? In my experience the safest way to transfer files between Mac OS X and a Windows server is to create a .DMG disk image using the Disk Utility. The DMG file can always be converted to an ISO and opened on Windows - losing resource forks and file name contsraints are no longer an issue either.
