Have things gotten so bad at DUB that EI are now using gaffa tape to repair the aircraft? A nice long big stretch of gaffa on the tail. Ok, I know its not, but would someone like to explain what happen here?

just looks like a repair that was made without spraying.

Looks to me like a panel has been replaced and not yet painted to match the original colour.

Its a brand new panel direct from the factory. Unfortunately not painted yet tho. Its a composite Panel. Hopefully it should be painted at next A-Check or when time is available. More important to have the aircraft flying and making money than have it laid up to paint a panel.

Composite eh... would i be right in thinking some kind of a cloud over these materials, nothing definite mind you, but some attention coming on them in the light of recent events.

Looks like an access panel to me. I admit my Airbus knowledge is zero but perhaps it allows easy access to the rudder pcu or rudder ratio actuator.

It looks like one of the leafs is cut off from the rest of the shamrock......could this represent a major cut back in Aer Lingus

Well its definitley not tape.... :p

Looks like a spare part alright, but what is it really? Its not a definable shape, its edges don't look all too smooth.

Im nearly sure that panel is hinged on one side for easy access, just normal airbus panel screws, no rivets.

No cloud over composites on aircraft..... just over aircraft made entirely of composites :)
