Doubt most people on here have even heard of Ricardo Patrase...

As a slight aside, I've noticed many F1 drivers are not really into road cars in a big way. When you drive the fastest, most nimble cars in the world, on the best circuits, the absurdity of a big fat Veyron which you can't legally get out of second gear is gonna be pretty evident:rolleyes:.

The best drivers in the world drive Meganes and Fiat Cromas:D...

Its a generation thing. Back many many years ago the people who controled F1 cars were actually drivers :D. I even remember over taking a bashing wheels...You can see from this video that these drivers had to do things like change gear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnV4tq7HZUA&feature=related

Am I in the minority of petrolheads who think Formula 1 is like watching paint dry?

Not at all. I used to love Formula1 then just lost interest in it altogether in the last 7/8 years

Yes we probably are in the minority. I gave up watching F1 after the Monaco GP was halted because of the rain and Senna had moved into an amazing 3rd position but I admit my memory is getting vague about this. What year was this, folks?

I never really watched it and believe me I tried! I just got so bored watching cars that all looked and sounded relatively the same lapping a track and overtaking each other....

I used to like watching the BTCC though.

I remember Patrese well, 257 starts and 3 wins, how depressing is that?

The good old glory days of Senna, Prost, Piquet are well gone, a long time fan I haven't had much interest in F1 for years.

    "Come on Magnolia!!!!!"

    Classic!

TBH most racing drivers have fairly mundane road cars. Myself included, save it for the track as I say.

Its a pity its not more exciting though as modern F1 cars are absolutely fantastic machines. From acceleration and braking to safety for drivers in a crash. I think because of how the racing has gone people dont realise what great pieces of engineering F1 cars are.

I find that F1 drivers generally aren't interested in cars. I remember watching that interview with Lewis Hamilton on Top Gear and I was amazed with how little enthusiasm he had for them.

He seems to have very little enthusiasm for anything except moaning :D.
