IF..My parents have a side entrance to their house which is quite a large area, it is the only access to the back of their house. This side entrance has a large gate which they wish to keep open. However neighbours who live adjacent to this area have in the last 6 months started to close this gate every night. The neighbour used to park their car there on occassion. What is the significance of them closing this gate as they have been asked not to close it. Can they claim some sort of ownership or possession or squatters rights to this area. The neighbours also have a separate small gate from their property on to this area and use this to get to a piece of land beyond my parents house.
