    Hi
I drive 2005 Peugeot 407 petrol model, bought new- wondering if someone can recommend really good competent mechanic-

The engine idling is rough and poor driving performance- checked by Peugeot service-- serviced/changed coil/spark plugs/oxygen sensor/ updated software... makes no difference-

Pls if anyone has any opinion- Thanks a lot.

Which sensor was changed? The lambda sensor or MAF sensor? MAF problems often cause the symptoms you mention.

Could be a split hose, possibly on the air intake.
MAF sensor is a good bet too.

In Dublin. The upstream-oxygen sensor (lambda sensor), Interesting, MAF sensor... Are these sensor faults not detected by the diagnostic equipments?

Thanks for your speedy comment. Any idea where i get get this diagnosed and fixed?

MAF may not give a fault as it would just gradually get worse until it causes problems

If it is the MAF sensor give the mechanic and service manager a good kicking from me. It's a fairly common problem on lots of cars and they should've spotted it straight away.

OP, there is a big difference between a diagnostic specialist and a mechanic who owns a scan tool and who does “diagnostics”. Most mechanics do “diagnostics” but to very varied levels. I would include main dealer mechanics in that.

What you need to find is a good recommended diagnostic specialist who is capable of testing rather than just guessing.

Diagnostics is a very involved subject. It is not as simple as just plugging in a scan tool.

I wouldn't take to Peugeot service centres anymore, they do not have enthusiasm to take in a customer.. experienced few times..

Anyone recommend any diagnostic specialist? before I go and replace any suggested parts-1) MAF(mass air flow ) Sensor 2) Air intake system.
