12 euro a pint ? lol Seriously though if 10 pints is 60 Euro max what are you spending the other 60 euro on ?
Also if you're not a big drinker then why are you drinking stupid amounts of drink ?
Get a pint of water every second round or simply slow down...

OP: If you feel that stopping drinking is right for you that's great. As for a social scene for non-drinkers, I think a lot of Ireland's socialising surrounds alcohol but pop onto the Non Drinkers Forum they should be able to advise you somewhat.

While most social scenes in Ireland are based aroun drink, it is not the scene which forces you to drink so much. That was your own fault, as was spending all that money.

Of course. It is his fault, and the OP never said it wasn't his fault. The OP is here, after making the decisions he did, he recognises that it was a mistake, and he wants to ditch the drink as a result. As such he is attempting to change his drinking policy as a result. I think one can only praise the OP for trying to take a responsible attitude.

He's certainly not the only one who has ever made mistakes with alcohol in this country.

Try Funky Seomra this weekend? It's an alcohol and drug free club night.

Makes no sense to pay so much money on drink and then be dying the next day. It's actually lunacy.

Takes a few years to realize that though!

I assume that €120 also included buying rounds , not to mention the possibility of a taxi home or a shnackbox. I've no new answer for him other than to point him in the direction of the Non Drinkers Group here. Hopefully he'll get some advice there.

You don't have to drink alcohol in a pub. Try water and ice. Also there are lots of nice women in pubs, I've yet to hear of bouncers refusing women because they are nice. Your mind perceives the nice women as scary monsters but it's all in your head.

I suppose the main issue is whether or not you have fun on nights out.
I too feel like crap after big nights out in town but I have great fun with my mates and meeting girls, so the brutal hangover is often a price I'm willing to pay.
And €100 is a standard enough amount to spend on a saturday night in the city.
Fair play though if you've decided it isn't for you, there are loads of other options than drinking (none as fun though in my opinion :o)

Dean820 read the charter of this forum especially the part about unhelpful posts. Only warning. Post deleted.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
