Buy one! Well that's what I did (albeit, a longer period) when I was travelling around another country.

Check out adverts.ie, you might be surprised what you get for €1000 i.e. taxed, tested etc. Whatever you sell it for will be a bonus!

not sure of current prices, but it will be tight.... especially if you need insurance on the car, as thats nearly as expensive as the car.....
try enterprise rent a car or Hertz.....

or above you could buy one and scrap it at end...
adverts.ie or carzone have cars listed or failing that try a local garage or auto breakers.... €1000 now a days will get you a lot.

Insurance! D'oh. Might be more hassle than it's worth thinking about it again. Can you even get insurance for a period less than a year? If you do get insured for a year and cancel the policy after 7 weeks, do you get a full refund? Get answers for both questions, get a few quotes from rental companies and you'll soon know which will be the better option.

I rent a good bit in ireland and Nova usually works out the cheapest for me

Irish Car rentals usually good second choice

    Is the rental for Ireland?

I'm not sure if many rental companies in Ireland will do 28 day + rentals as they lose the VRT rebate on cars on hire for over 28 days.

they don't like doing it but they can swap the customer out after 28 days into a different car to meet the requirements for that....

they will all rent for extended periods of time, its just not cheap to do so....
€1000 for 7 weeks if it includes insurance is going to be tight very very tight...
ex insurance... you would be fine...

OT, but legally they can't do that now. There were changes recently to the way it works and "technically" you can't use the 28 day work around. Pretty sure Enterprise still do.

Any of the vehicles rented to us by our prefered company are all VRT'd for one reason or another.

Cheapest way I've found of renting a car here is book it through an agency in another country.

I needed a car for a month or so recently and Europcar quoted me 25 yoyo per day..
I booked it with Europcar through a Portuguese holiday rental site and got it for 9 per day.
