    Hi,

    Let's say I'm looking for offbeat products like St.Patricks day items in the middle of summer, where can I find them?

    On a related question, I'm wondering if anyone can point out a few websites for sourcing products. In particular any b2b sites in Asia that can be recommended.

    Hello DannyD,

    I would urge caution in relation to sourcing products from China from a website. At the risk of doing people an injustice, there are too many websites around that look great, but if dig behind the facade turn out to be scams. So buyer beware.

    There are quite a number of reputable companies in Ireland that can assist you with sourcing product from China. They know the way, have the contacts and can make all the necessary arrangements to ensure you get what you have ordered.

    Here are some of the companies I know of ;

    ChinaGreen.ie (www.chinagreen.ie)

    Best of luck

    I would urge caution also but, unless you're bringing in a significant volume of goods I'm not sure if the big irish sourcing co's will be cost effective for you (or even interested in the project??)

    As Rudolph said, the key is being cautious and understanding what you're getting into. The most important piece of advice I ever give people is to get samples from suppliers before commiting to any volume puchase.

    Also, be careful with payments - we do business in China right now and I pay with PayPal as much as possible. Yes, I have to pay the 3.5% merchant fee on top of my invoice but it does afford me some peace of mind with regard to recourse.

    Also, it costs about $300 to get a QA person to chek your order before it ships - again, a good investment if you are buying a big lump of stock.

    SB
