    alrite gang

    hope yer all well

im 24 years old, and have been in fulltime education til now, bar one year of fullt time work.

i have just finished college and i came straight to germany to find work since may, -which is when i finished.

I am having difficulty finding work here, and my funds are running out.

I am wondering if i am entitled to job seekers allowance or anything at all, i am keen on looking for work, and not being that choosy, but its just i know for a fact that i stand a better chance of finding work here in Germany than I do in Ireland.

    thanks for reading

    all the best,
    ed

If you are currently living in Germany, and staying in Germany, then no, you cannot claim Jobseeker's Allowance in Ireland. I am sure Germany has something similar though?

the bad news is you cannot transfare over your jobseekers allowance, that's for definite.

you will first need to go to register as a foreigner residing in Germany, if you plan to stay longer than 6 months, then need to go to your local 'Arbeitsamt' (Labour Exchange) and register there to say you are looking for work.

If you can't find work you need to go to the 'Sozialamt' (social welfare office) to recieve money.
It is no cake walk and there is a lot of form filling etc. and a lenghty detailed interview.

the dole and labour exchange are totally different offices, and they won't even talk to you in the welfare office unless you have registered with the labour exchange.

    hope this helps??

    good luck ;)
