    Hi guys,

A year ago I did a 4 day introduction course to makeup and loved it. I'd like to continue on and do a more advanced one but am working full time so can only do a part time course. I've seen a few online and have one or two in mind but not really sure which one to go with and was wondering if anyone has any advice for me on which are the best. I'd like to get into makeup for photography/fashion/weddings etc. Oh, and I don't really want a course that will only push their own products...

    Thanks in advance :) x

My friend did the Make-Up Forever one, said it was really good but it does cost quite a bit.

Yea, the Makeup Forever one was one of the courses I was looking at. It is quite expensive alright. The other one which is a cheaper and I think has quite a good reputation is the LA Makeup Academy on Dame Street... anyone any experience of them?

Try Salon Services or Sally Salon I think is their new name at the Red Cow.

They do a variety of one day beauty type courses, I'm sure they'd have something. And they aren't affiliated to any particular product so shouldn't have the hard sell behind it.

    Hi All,

I have just completed my course, it was a 20 week course part-time with fas, once completed the course, you are fully quailifed with ITEC. Really well with it and it only cost €300. Fas hold them all round the country.

    Hi all

I am looking to do just a one day make up course just for beginners. Nothing too fancy just need to know the basics really. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. I did try the Sally Salon and Salon Services idea but its seems their website is down.
    Thanks a lot

The course I did originally was with Zoe Clark... http://www.zoeclark.com/ ... I did an evening course with her and the 4 day introduction course. I found it really good and gave me a taste for it!!!! She's does the personal lessons/beginners course in her house so it's very laid back and hands on, might be what you're looking for.

This is another one I found... http://www.boylanandbalfe.com/... looks like they do day courses also but I haven't heard of anyone who's been on one.

I did my course with academy.ie and found them very nice and helpful,it was one night per week over I think 17/18 weeks for three hours. The time flies, especially with the practical, so get your friends lined up to get the art down! The more you practice the beter you will be. And don't worry about mistakes, it's a learning porocess. what I will advise is though that you will need to purchase quite a bit of brushes/make up uniforms make up etc, so try to source them on the web and second hand books from maybe amazon. As for the make up you will need don't spend too much as you are only learning, you will probably find you have a lot of your own eyehdows blusher etc. Go for the cheapest options like rimmel, and as for brushes another thread suggest this site http://crownbrush.co.uk/badger1.html which is very reasonable. Find out exactly what core make up/ brushes you need , you can always build up after that.
Also for make up tutorials go to youtube.com it has every kind of eyeshadow/ make up tips imaginable. The only crib I have with academy is that they don't advise about the stuff you actually need in advance, so be prepared to spend a few quid. Ask friends for make up they don't want (we all have make up we don't use), but be sure it is within shelf life. Have make up parties like avon or virgin vie, then you will get freebies!!

ShaunaBeexo, please do not drag up old threads. You can try the Beauty forum. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1488
