Just learning the bass, got a very ( IMHO) nice Ibenaz 5 string bass.
I like the low B, but am thinking about dumping it in favor of a high C string.
Am I mad ? What's involved ? Would it need to be setup again ? A job for a pro ?
    Anyone here done this?
    Any input welcome :-)
    Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for your time.

You'd need a new nut, new set of strings (obviously ;)), intonation adjustment, and possibly a slight truss rod adjustment.

You could do it yourself with some patience. :)

    Thanks for the info Dord.
I'm pretty handy with most jobs of that type, but messing about with the neck don't sound like a "starter" job for a noob like me!
I'm thinking a cheap bass to learn how to setup might be worth it, then have a go at the good one.
    Thanks for that.

No probs. It should be fairly cheap & quick for someone used to it to do. So I'd say drop it into someone if you're not that comfortable doin' it yourself.

I could not argue with that advice :-)
    Cheers.

I've never done that. The nearest I got was thinking about putting a low B on a 4 string bass :). Personally I wouldn't sacrifice the low B on a bass without a very good reason. Firstly there's all the work involved as Dord mentioned, then there's the fact that if you're reading tab you'll have to adapt the music to your guitar. Lastly there's the fundamental fact that the bass is there to provide the low end of the music which is done much better via the low B rather than a high C (in my opinion of course :) )
