hi all i was wondering if someone could clear up 2 questions i have on wills:

Can a person have two wills i.e one in the states and one here?

Also, can an execitor(spelling?) of a will be left anything in the will that they are execitor of?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Depends on how they are worded, many wills start with a statement that they revoke all previous ones, so if the irish one predated the american one, it could revoked by the american one.

They could be worded in such a way to allow this

If its property then Im pretty sure that if you have any property in U.S.A then you need a U.S.A specific will.

What else can be the subject of a will but property? Burial instructions?

Thank you all for your help so far, in relation to the second will the person in question was born and lived in the US for many years untill about 20 years ago and moved here.

Now, what basically came up one night is that a person CANNOT have two wills but it didn't sound right to me. I'm not sure sure if first will deals with property but i'd imagine maybe cash and second will would deal with property over here in ireland that the lady owns.

This sounds awful but the lady is a close relitive and ot just happened to come up one night.

If she has property in two countries and possibly two will, one of which hasn't been updated in 20 years (if I am reading it right), then a trip to a solicitor who can deal with both jurisdictions may be in order.
