Sig 30-06

Well lads,

Won't be long now till deer season so i'm starting to get ready very early. First step is the buying of a new hunting rifle. Just bought a SigSauer 202 Elegance in 30-06 (like the one in the picture). I've been using my old sig 6.5x55 and thought it time to move to a full hunter style. Thing is i know my old sig inside and out but am unsure as to what ammo would suit best in the new one.

Anybody with any advice on ammo i'd like to hear it and anyone with a 30-06 i'd like to hear what you think of the gun in general.

lovely looking rifle well may it wear .

if the hornady 165gr sst shoot well in it look further as a all round bullet you will not get better or 150gr federal ballistic tips if you are a neck man .
federal 150gr soft points are cheap and shoot very well in my rifles .

Thats a lovelly piece, I never saw one of them before. What kind of damage could one expect to pay for something like that.

Thanks alot lads. Getting itchy fingers. Want it now. The gun retails at €2200 new. Its the same stock, colour and finish as the one in the picture. Lovely feel to it and much lighter than my 6.5x55. Thanks jwshooter for the recommendations on ammo. Will buy a box or 2 of each and see which one fires best when sighting it in. Hoping to have the rifle and be at midlands sighting it within the next 2-3 weeks. All going well.

Anymore suggestions lads, keep them coming.

Hi new member here. Have a 3006 Krico 902 deluxe near enough same as Sig. I find it to powerful for deer shooting in eire. The 150 gn is the lightest weight bullet one can buy. Unless you take a head shot you will lose near enough 33pc of the carcass.I got 125 gn reloaded bullets of a friend and these still do a lot of damage. Hope this helps Sonic7
