    Hi

I got stopped by a Garda for running a red light 2 weeks ago, got an €80 fine, but I haven't received it yet, not trying to avoid it, I want to pay it.

Who should I ring, or call into my local Garda station?

    Thanks a lot

Forget about about it, when it comes it comes. I got a speeding "fine" 3 years ago, was told it would be with me within the week, still haven't recieved it to this day

    Are you sure?

I've never been stopped before - just had a slip up that day, but I wouldn't like to leave it in case I get a summons.

positive you need the fixed charge notice before you can proceed with paying the fine., best leave it until that arrives.

Ok, just that I heard someone who didn't receive it was summonsed for not paying, as they were made aware they had to pay the fine when they were stopped by the Garda.

    Just don't want the fine to be any more expensive than what it was. I'm raging I have to pay for it at all;

Was coming to a set of lights, in lashing rain with a car right on my back behind me, light turned amber as another car passed through, I was just crossing the line and it went red after I passed it. Garda stopped me and the car that went through before me and fined the both of us, he was just sitting at the lights waiting to catch someone - this is exactly what he told me too.

"I've been waiting for ya all afternoon". I couldn't even explain that I couldn't brake hard in the conditions as I could of caused an accident from the car behind me driving into the back of my car. He was very abrupt.

Have I any case here or is it just my word against the Garda's (seem's to be the general consensus).

Anyone know if this ruling will affect me then?

Seriously, I think I will be summonsed, who can I contact to get this fine sorted?

I was in a similar postion and hearing last night news. It's been three months since iwas was caught for been on the phone.
I rang Garda ombudsman this morning. They advised me to ring the fixed penalty office. They have no record of a fixed penalty against me and was told not to worry about it. Fixed penalty office can't issue something after three months. I could still get a summons from the Garda for up to 6 months.

In your case give it a another month and ring the fixed penalty office.

Nice, where are the contact details for this office? Can't find it on google. I'll leave it for 3 months then ring them!

Ok so if I hold out and it takes six weeks - will I have to pay an increased charge? Or will they allow for the amount of time it took to arrive..

You cant pay the charge until it arrives in the post..the time for you to pay the fine starts then
