Hi, I'm heading to Bayonne/Biarritz area for 2 weeks and was looking to head up the mountains nearby for a few spins. Has anyone been there before/know if any place in that region rents road bikes? All I found on the internet was trek hybrids which wouldn't be much use.

    Cheers

FTM FL bike shop is worth a shot. They do very good rates on their DSH range but be prepared to pay top dollar for their EJA's.

My mother lives there. I cycled a bit out there last year, but I kept the spins short 70/75k. I was on my own and didn't fancy getting lost. The Road from Bayonne, Biarritz to Irun is quite ondulated. That was a straight forward route with nice view of the Coast. Some villages you might want to include would be Espelette, St Jean Pied de Port, cross the border too, just so you appreciate that the French Basque country is much nicer than the spanish side.
The Camino also start from St Jean Pied de Port. you might want to have a look at the route, to give you an idea.

In regards to the bike rentals, I really have no idea...
