fuel gauge a bit off

my fuel gauge is showing a bit off everytime i turn on my car! i could turn my car on and off a few times and each time the fuel gauge will read differently, just a bit worrying because i don't want it reading that i have plenty of fuel and turning out i'm nealt empty! is this easy to fix?

What type of car is it? Are you experiencing the problem when the car is parked on level ground?
