I was just watching this Scrubs clip and I thought how much the song How To Save A Life by The Fray added emotion to the clip. I thought it was one of the best uses of music in a TV Show. So, is there any other TV Show clips that has a good use of music?

I really liked the use of that song in that clip..always think of it when I hear the song.

I really liked when Futurama used Connie Francis I will wait for you for a clip at the end of an episode about Frys old dog. When he decides not to bring him back to life because he lived a long time after Fry got frozen, so he says he would have forgotten about him a long time ago. Then theres a scene with the dog standing outside where he use to work and keeps progressing with him there until he eventually dies. Very sad, especially for a cartoon!

    Scrubs wins hands down;

The ending of the episode 'My Philosophy'; the patient dies (she says she imagines dying being like a Broadway musical):

Or the one where Dr Cox realises Ben's dead, the music fits in perfectly:

The chart music used in Reeling in the Years on RTE is sometimes very good in that it perfectly captures what went on in the year..............and its music from that year.............if ya get me.

They always chose the right song for the right scene in Six Feet Under. But in the finale, they outdid themselves and created one of the greatest finales in television.

sopranos also used kid a by radiohead on the end credits for one episode, not nerdy enough to remember which one, but I do remember thinking how class it sounded

Don't Stop Believin' was used in Scrubs as well before they used it in Sopranos. Scrubs has to be one of the best shows for using good music.

Although it wasn't a TV show, the soundtrack for the LOTR trilogy was really special.

Last 5-6 minutes of the very last episode of Prison Break.

    Definitely one of the best.

You kind of have to have watched at least the last episode to get it properly though.

A lot better if you've watched every one for the past YEARS.

God I hate that song, everyone involved in promoting that song should be shot I don't care what they did or how good it was. It actually makes me want to scream whenever I hear it. I've gotten up and left places I hate it that much.

Another Scrubs one. Not the best one but still good all the same:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,956 ✭✭✭consultech

I like a lot of the ones that have been mentioned. Scrubs in particular have had some very poignant song choices.

Mine would be the end of episode 2 of Hatton/Pacquaio 24/7. It's "The birth and death of the day" by Explosions in the sky. One of the most "epic" songs I've ever heard. Starts from about 3.50 in.

I think it perfectly captures the emotion behind Floyd Mayweather Senior's relationship with his son, and the role of the trainers as they leave their fighters alone to battle, as well as the struggle of the fighters' training regimes.

I was so amped up for this fight because I am such a big Ricky Hatton fan, was very disappointed when he got knocked d fook out, but this episode had me gaggin for the fight before it happened.

All the 80s music that was used in Ashes to Ashes:)

I'm gonna go for the scene in Freaks & Geeks where Sam Weir gets to dance with Cindy Sanders to the song 'Come Sail Away' by Styx.

not the conventional use of music in a show...

background, the lads have all been dumped and need cheering up...
