id go for the m-sport personally, the normal one is a bit boring looking. plus the year wouldnt bother me much

im with you on that one but the only problem is that isnt the tax much lower for 08 and would be easier sell??

thats a good point as the new one can be taxed on emmissions and not displacement, but as for selling it the m sport would nearly go as fast id say

If you're suspicious get an AA or RAC check done. An 08 will have an extra years BMW warranty on it which will cover non accident gremlins. The 08 is a lot more desirable over here compared to the difference between 08 and 07 in the UK - save for a few more months if you have to but get the 08 mpsort.

Get an 08 for the tax reasons mentioned above. Try for an 08 MSport if that is the model you require. Its worth noting that BMW offered free Msport upgrade on the 3 series coupe (Not sure about the saloon) so really it shouldnt be demanding much money over the standard car

definitely go for an 08. have you got 21k sterling to spend on the car then the vrt etc seperate? You should easily be able to get an 08 for that.

    Definetly the M-Sport.

That would still make the models without it less desirable and therefore cheaper. it works both ways.

not sure I understand, thats an 08 msport for 20k sterling, isn't that what you want? Personally I wouldn't take one with that mileage and without leather. However I'm not as up to date on the prices as I was at the start of the year.

edit - having checked the auc site prices it appears that prices have actually gone up in the last 7 months, not down! Not sure how that happened.. but there must be a fair bit of room to move on the price on a lot of them.

ya it is what im looking for but i just thought was is too good value i.e. something wrong with it?! im with you as regards to the leather also. I can get many 07 msport for my budget but very few 08 msports! would you mind telling me what auction site you used?

    thanks

    thanks

Would say it is just the 'no bargain' price, with 40k miles and no leather it's going to be a fair bit cheaper than others with 1/4 mileage. I'd certainly pay 2 or 3k more if you can stretch for low mileage.

Sorry, when I said auc, I meant the BMW approved used car site:
    http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/advanced_search/0,,___,00.html?empty=1

My advice is to track prices closely and ring about a couple each day to see is there any room for movement. Don't email anyone, it's worthless. You'll find it hard to get them to take you seriously, say you can pay a large deposit by card (assuming you can) and that they'll never see you again as you are taking it to Ireland. Keep calling back the next day or whatever with a deadline for when you need to make the deal, don't be a prick on the phone, be pleasant and build up a rappor to get the deal done. Eventually you will find someone willing to make a deal that suits them and you. You should be getting at least 1 to 2k off the advertised price, but you will find it's hard to get them to move over the phone.

It's a bit of work but it'll be worth it in the end.

A word of warning about the 19s on runflats, they aren't the most comfortable and are crashy on bad roads. They aren't as bad as some people on here will make out but I'd certainly advise getting a drive in one to make sure you can live with the ride. They are also very easy to kerb.

Certainly a coupe with the Msport would be alot more desireable than the other model. Not so much so on the saloon as there would be alot of people not prepared to live with the Msport suspension on the saloon.

Thanks a million for all your help Copacetic, yes i herd that said before about the 19 runflats, would it be the same for the 18s? yes, like you i am on the bmw site nearly everyday but they are very pricey in main BMW dealers and they dont seem to move much on their price! hope I can get a 08 MSport but i might have to settle for a normal 08!

the 18s aren't as bad, but they don't look half as good either!
just stick with it on the bargaining, they don't like to move much over the phone as they don't believe you are a serious buyer. Stick at it until you find someone who is looking for a sale, play up that you can move quickly and have the money in their bank in days. The number plate change is coming up, maybe there will be a slight move in prices around then...

I'd say you will get an msport, there are a lot more of them than SEs sold in the UK, so there should be a fair bit more choice.
