    More money than sense rich?

I'd have one of these art deco wonders - who knows if it's any use to drive - just look at it!

Yes it seems like some people aren't getting the whole concept of the "unlimited budget/absolute dream car that there isn't the slightest hope in hell of you ever owning" part of this thread. No offence to whomever posted it but that M3 BMW above is an awful eyesore too. Young lads in baseball caps and ridiculous exhausts drive things that look like that. Set your dream car sights a little higher mate

Apparently the 7-litre engine makes the cabin really hot - but I guess I'll never find out :-(. Only 29 made.

You will do well to offend me horse.

I would be very surprised if any young fella in a baseball cap could afford 25k sterling on a e30 m3. 325i sports yes, but not a M3 cecotto.

I'm afraid I'm with slidey on this one. Money is no object but we're not trying to see who can come up with the most expensive motor either.

I used to have an E30 and took a spin in the M3 version of same and they are brilliant.

I've picked the BMW 507, but for all I know it might drive like a shopping trolley.

This is my point. If you work hard and save your cash you will be able to afford one of these one day. Try to think of something really exotic and rare. Something that you will never, ever own like a Gullwing. That's what this thead is about not 25 grand Beemers.....

Just to stir a few things up a bit :D, if you're counting out a 25k Special built Beamer, then the porsche 930 and the Interceptor would also be '3 strikes out' :p, not because they're not wonderfull machines, but with a budget of around 25k, you could pick up a nice one !! And they are very easy to find.

I guess that this immediately hits the spot of what this thread is about: how easy would it be to get one of these cars. They are either so rare that they almost never come up for sale, or when they do, they are so expensive that you wouldn't be able to afford one unless you are a millionaire.

So to stay with Porsches, a better car to lust for would be either an original 1973 911 RS Carrera for example, but in fact even those are relatively easy to find, but what about the ultimate in exclusive and rare Porsches: the 904!!!!! Only a handfull were made, and they simply do not come up for sale, and if they do, prices are staggering (sorry, too lazy to find a pic :D).

By the way Wibbs, even though only 'one' car was called for, thanks for adding your suggestions, that early Alfa Romeo just makes everything Ok again: I just absolutely love those early Alfa's!!!!!! Everything about them is just so right!! Even down to the most beautiful intake manifold every created :)

There is a silver hardtop here in the country that I have done work on.
The cabin gets extremely hot! As does the engine bay, so much so small electric fans had to be fitted to extract heat! Worked quite well.

Nnngh... So many choices... That SZ, I would love one of those. Or a Superbird. Or a CSL Batmobile. But, money's no object. I could get Cadillac to make that 16. Or I could just use an SR-71 as a car. Taxi it everywhere.

It's a Chrysler Turbine Car. It revved up to 60,000 RPM and could run on anything, even tequila. They built 55 of them, ran a competition, the winners were given one for a year, and then they were taken away and all but a handful were destroyed. Nice, eh?

The car looks great in the pic above but I don't think the view from the rear is quite so good. Those great big cutaways for the rear lights spoil the lines me thinks.

It'd make more sense if it passed you by, it sounded like a proper jet. When you add that element, I really think the back works. It's very art deco-y from some angles, too.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 11,487 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hermy

I know what you mean about the art-deco thing - very much of it's time - but it's just that in that first picture the lines are so clean that for me less would have been more when it came to the rear.
