Gordon Brown stated: “We have agreed for the first time that global temperatures must rise by no more than 2C. We have agreed as G8 that we want to cut our emissions by 80 per cent by 2050”

G8 leaders claim historic breakthrough on new deal to tackle global warming

President Obama and other leaders backed historic new targets for tackling global warming last night in an agreement designed to pave the way for a world deal in the autumn.

For the first time, America and the other seven richest economies agreed to the goal of keeping the world’s average temperature from rising more than 2C (3.6F).

They also agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 as they strove for a worldwide deal at Copenhagen in December.

The moves were designed to put the squeeze on the world’s developing nations,

There were signs last night that the G13 — the eight joined by China, India, Mexico, South Africa and Brazil — would today also sign up to the 2C limit.

the G8 leaders do not expect agreement from the developing countries to halve emissions.

In chairing the major economies forum today, Mr Obama is signalling that he wants to play a big role in the run-up to Copenhagen."

Even 3000+ years ago when the climate changed from cold winter to hot summer each summer would have different temperatures. The earth might get an average summer, a cold summer, or a hot summer; just like in the 1800’s and every other time period on this planet orbiting around the sun (slightly changing it’s orbit ever year).

Now 8 to 13 “wise” men, Gordon Brown and company, have agreed the entire world will never have an average rise of 2 degrees ever again, despite the ever changing output of the sun. If you don’t suffer illusions of grandeur you’ll know this is impossible, but unfortunately the never ending conveyor belt of self acclaimed “wise” men that do make these decisions apparently suffer from illusions of grandeur.

One thing we can count on is that the people on top will implement their high objectives that effects us at the bottom. The people at the top can follow through on their desires as they fund them with tax payer’s money, government borrowed money, or by printing money.

We at the bottom don’t have a vote on important issues that effect our lives, a few in positions like the G8-13 dictate to the entire globe. You should be very concerned at the procedures to never let the average weather go up “by no more than 2C”.

    What's the conspiracy?
That the G8 are going to try and do something about limiting CO2 emissions?

if they were realy serious they would try to reclaim arid lands with trees/plants thus reducing co2 instead of the emissions

Precisely, Why all of a sudden is the sky falling? "Global Warming" didn't exist 30 years ago. Today, it is being used as a pretext by the global elite to gain more control over the populations.

It did exist 30 years ago, we just didn't notice.
It didn't exist 200 years ago because we weren't nearly so good at burning everything in sight.

So global warming is a conspiracy invented by worlk leaders in an effort to grab more power?

It would be much easier to just have a global war on terrorism. Oh wait.

That's correct , and taxes , carbon taxes , breating taxes , they are taxing methane emissions on farm animals , its all about power and control .

"Air pollution" didn't exist as an issue 50 years ago. About 30 years ago it suddenly became an issue.

I don't know about you, but I don't miss Dublin being wreathed in smog.

Pollution existed 400 years ago. Many thought the Great Fire of London was brilliant.

IN the Victorian era rich people in London got their laundry done in the countryside because the city was so sooty.

Not just Coal burning but soot from the gas lamps and oil lamps.

40 years ago your white shirt collar would have been dark grey by afternoon in Belfast.

I welcome our Weather Controlling Overlords. Sadly they have as much chance of controlling weather as Canute had of stopping the Tide. Banning smoky coal and cigarettes is the easy bit. Though we still legally import both and in the Countryside someone next door can seem to beburning tar mixed with seaweed and sewage.

Especially because they're trying to influence climate, not control weather.

Seriously, what IS the conspiray? Why does tax designed to help the environment count as a conspiracy?

I'm not denying that the world goes through climatic cycles, hot and cold periods, and other such changes. But human activity is still having an effect on the climate, and it seems like it's a seriously damaging one. The more we can limit that, the better. How does this tax help those at the top?
