A4 mono laser printer advice

    Y'all

Any advice on a model of A4 mono laser printer that I should go for and ones I should avoid? Not looking for colour, max speed of first page, ppm etc., just a reliable, efficient one, just for text, preferably one that I can get the toner refilled. (WiFi connectivity would be great but not worth it for the prices I'm guessing)

Seen a Samsung ML-2240 on Elara.ie... anyone got any experience with Samsungs? or the Epson EPL-6200L on Dabs4work.ie?

    Thanks for any advice.

Well try and go for one with a toner to be replaced and no drums to be done.
Anything HP in general will be very reliable. Samsung are generally quite good too.
Brother printers can be good but normally have a seperate drum unit but the above printers generally have the drum within the toner cartridge and will be changed if necessary when refilling.

Research and try and get a good mix between good toner capacity and reasonable price. As a general rule of thumb I would avoid Lexmark, Epson or Canon.

    Hope this helps.

thanks pyramuid man for the fast reply.... i'm a inkjet man so talk of toner and drums leaves me ??.... just wikied it so now more up to speed! so you're saying go for one with a combined drum and toner cartridge in one? and am surprised by the recommendation to stay away from Epson, have found them reasonable in the inkjet department so far... ;]

The reason I would not recommend an epson is that in general they have made colour lasers rather than mono and while there may have been mono lasers available, they are quite expensive to maintain.

Also it could be hard to find refills for it.

Also there is a photoconducter unit with the 4200L which is similar to a drum unit.

I'd definitely recommend a Kyocera printer. I got one last year and it's great. Try getting one from a dealer too, it's better for the warranty than buying online.

Thanks ReverseKanga, which Kyocera dealer did you deal with? I'm in Galway town but I presume a Dublin-based dealer would ship west.

If you are getting a kyocera, make sure you can refill the cartridges. They normally can but just to make sure as they are not too popular and may take a little while to refill as parts may need to be ordered.
