Sync'ing iphone to pc

Anytime I try to sync my contacts from there's no way of telling itunes how to handle a conflict. Does anyone know which is the default when a conflict occurs? Also, can I specify the sync direction, ie, phone to pc or pc to phone? (3GS and a vista machine) Thanks.

There is an option when you click on your phone in iTunes to either sync from the phone to outlook, or outlook to your phone. Can't remember exactly where it is though.

Thanks for the reply, maybe with outlook, but I'm syncing to the vista contacts application.

Any ideas anyone?
