Nikon SB-600 Vs. Sigma EF-530

    Hi folks,

I'm in the process of buying a zoom lense and flash for my D40. I picked the Sigma 70-300 and found a nice little package with a Sigma Flash (EF-530). I went into my local camera shop and they recommended staying away from it and going for a Nikon SB-600 (which is more expensive). Anybody have any views on which is better or if there is a huge difference between the two.

    Thanks

there a re 2 sigma EF 530's I think. one is a super and the other is st or something like that. Super is great and the other is ok but lacks a few pro features and no lcd. Thinking of investing in a flash soon, but saving up for the 530 super or a metz 58 af1. check they do what you want from a flash. I really want to use stroboscopic flash so i am saving up for one that has this feature!

I did have a Sigma flash for my D70S & while it did the job it was not fully compatible with the iTTL. Some time later I had an opportunity to buy the SB600 or SB800 at a very good price. I bought the SB600 & it does everything I need & is a much better flash than the Sigma.

Thanks guys. I've gone with the Nikon, compatability wise I think it's the best.
    Thanks for the advice
