Refused service in beauticans because I'm a man

Happened today, enquired about a nail shape or manicure.....told me that those services are only available to women....'takes longer for men'....was a lame, unconvincing excuse. Last year I was refused an eyebrow shape in Cork because I was a man. Ok not many men would want a manicure, but I felt discriminated against.

    You were discriminated against.
Did you talk to the manager/owner?

Some women like to go to an all womens gym because they feel safe,

maybe it is a female only beautician? I would be embarassed to be heard paying for a bikini wax in front of a man, but only for a second.

It does sound like blatant discrimination though, kick a fuss and dont let this go! Not being mean or anything but you might get a discount/free treatment.

Some men have tiny hands, some women have sausage fingers (speaking as a sausage finger myself! :D ) but then they should have a male price!

Okay this is ripe for humour but if the shoe was on the other foot i'm sure a lot of ladies would feel aggrevied if they're were refused service because of their sex.

I have to ask, were you dressed as a man or a woman at the time?

Not a troll, if a TV wanted a treatment it could have freaked the beautician if she had never faced the situation before.

There are lots hair salons / barbers which cater to one or the other. Tough luck you go somewhere else. I wouldn't like to think that we've gone that politically correct..

Some salons would prefer to have clientele of one gender. Fair enough.

These guys are for men only so I wouldn't take umbridge if they refused me my Brazilian tbh

You were discriminated against and that is terrible.

However, this is not a personal issue.

    Thanks for your understanding.
