    Hi All,

Hopefully someone here might help to point me in the right direction..
I need some advise on finding a foundation that suits my skin tone..
I have really pale skin that has breakouts and is kinda blotchy aswell.,and all the foundations I use just make my face look brown compared to my neck anad chest.. I am currently using MAC NW15, and find this ok.. but still think the colour can me better against my skin.. ?? I also notice that I can get very shiny after a while..

Does anyone have any good tips on foundation that is really matt and doest shine ater 1 hour?? Also one that great for covering breakouts and blotchyness. ??

    Thanks Guys

    Hi boo27;

There have been some very handy threads on the past few months on this which I have found really helpful! I used to use the MAC NW15 but found it still quite dark, especially for during the day, Now i use Bobbi Brown in porcelain.
Here are the links...hope you find something!

I also started using a bobbi brown colour corrector recently for blotches and love it!

    Hey

I was using NW15 for a while but I use studio fix now and find it much better, maybe try that? Also NARS in Deauville shade is very good for pale skin, although a tad pricier at 44Euro.

As for the blotchiness, have you tried dr.feelgood from benefit? My friend swears by it :)

Oh, also a wee bit of powder will stop the shine, just put it on lightly with your bronzer brush and you won't get that 'cakey' effect.

I find Perscriptives fab - am quite pale, and find it gives me a nice glow, without being too dark.

NW15 is just the shade number, Studio Fix Fluid comes in the shade NW15.

If the OP has typically Irish pale skin shouldn't they be using NC shades as these are for skin with cool undertones(which most pale Irish skin would have, myself included)? I find these to be lighter in colour as well, although MAC don't actually have a colour light enough for my skin in their foundation range. I'm thinking of just buying a bottle of MAC Face and Body Foundation in White and custom mixing all my foundation from now on in little containers, depending on the brand etc. I can't see any other solution, nothing is light enough for me.

I have the same problem - I need a good mattifying foundation but in an extremely pale, pale, pale, pale shade.

Over the years I have tried pretty much every brand under the sun. I got a Prescriptives one made especially for me - the colour was spot on, but it was too sticky and I ended up with a shiny face after about an hour.

Seemingly Nars are bringing out a new paler shade in their oil free foundation in September. Their current palest one is a moisturising one which is way too shiny/sticky for me!

Definitely shouldn't use the NW15 shade anyway, it's for warmer toned skin, what colour hair do you have if you don't mind me asking? I'm very pale and wear Studio Fix Fluid in NC15 when I buy Mac, it's the best match I've found! I have white-ish blonde hair so some pale foundations make me look like a ghost, but this one doesn't! So if you want to stick to Mac try this!

I hear Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud brought out a range of foundations for pale skin called "Dainty Doll" but I've never seen it in Ireland, might be online?

Oh and Illamasqua (in BT2) have a few very pale shades, seem to be a bit pink toned though!

    You could also try:
    L'Oreal True Match (I wear C2 sometime)
    Rimmel Age Renewal in Ivory

Dainty Doll is available from asos. Although you might want to try it in "real life" before buying online.

My friend uses dainty doll by nicola roberts, she has quite pale skin and she thinks its fab.....
You can get it on Asos and its fairly reasonably priced.:D

Laura Mercier in Brown Thomas do some very pale shades but they are quite pricey!!!

    But worth it.

I'm v pale and I find Vichy Dermablend in Opal brilliant. I like something that gives good medium - full coverage as I have quite dark lines under my eyes & find this covers it up without feeling too heavy

bobbi brown in the palest shade or everyday minerals in fawn- wont get whiter than that!!

i tried dainty doll, the colour was great but it's a mousse and it dried out my skin so i didnt buy a second pot (which is tiny btw).

Georgio Armani luminous glow can be gotten in a v pale shade, about €40.

recently got makeup forever mat velvet+ in a v pale shade too, which i use when i go out.

for daytime these days i use everyday minerals (got them online directly from their website), they have some v pale shades that provide great coverage, and you can get a sample kit consisting of 5 sample size mini pots of foundations, concealers, blush, powders or eyeshadows so you can try different shades and finishes (i.e. matt, semi matt etc) and all you have to pay for is postage, which was about $4 to Ireland! i found the colours lighter than bare minerals, which i have also recently tried.

For v pale make up with good coverage, try Estee Lauder Double Wear in Shell.

The ivory Age Renewal is lovely. Clinique Superbalanced in Alabaster is nice too, and long-lasting. They probably both need to be set with powder though to avoid oiliness.

I just got bobbi brown in Porcelain and I think it's great too. Finally something that doesn't make my face look orange in comparison with my neck. I'd been using MAC NW15 but I'm much happier with BB.

    Hey,

I have the same problem as yourself....Im half Irish and half Danish so Casper the ghost seems to have a fab tan compared to me!! I spent hundreds of euros in search of the perfect foundation and one day I stumbled across my godsend!! *Drum roll Please*

    Elizabeth Arden mineral foundation

Now I know powder can seem scary for a foundation BUT this stuff is just amasing!! I look flawless yet totally natural....it doesn cake or flake (providing you wear a good moisteriser) its just BRILLIANT!! Ye its expensive but its totally worth it. It also has SPF20, comes in a stylish compact case WITH a mirror inside AND an application pillow thingy. If you decide to try it...DONT let the shop assistant talk you into gettig the brush, ye its great and does the job but the applicator it comes with does just the same thing!!

I have really pale skin also. I like glow when pictures are taken of me because of the flash reflecting of my white skin, people say I'm like an a goth cause my hair is a really dark brown naturally as well! :p

What I wear is Bobbi Brown 00 Alabastar in the skin foundation range. It's paler then porceilan and matches your own skin colour perfectly. It's about 30euros in BT.

If you have a terribly oily/flakey T-zone and really dry skin in the rest of is normal/dry on your face like mine then you would snatch this one up because it's really light and works with your skins different areas.

Also their concealer in porceilan is fab for covering up those spots or red areas us alabastar babes get!

Well thats how I feel about it anyway!

I've been reading a few threads on pale foundation, and am interested in trying bobbi brown, since that's what everyone seems to be recommending. Anyone here happen to know if they're in Brown Thomas in Limerick??

I use id mineral make up in porceilan. It actually does clear my skin up! It gets rid of shine. I use my fingertip to put it on the shadows under my eyes and scars, and a brush for everywhere else. I just put more on trouble spots like my chin, and very little on my cheeks and forehead, and it doesn't look uneven because it's the same colour as my skin.

It's also spf 25, and since high factor sunblock really gives me bad spots, I just use a non pore blocking factor 15 and a good lot of mineral make up to get rid of shine and give extra spf.

If you use blush and not too much foundation you won't look too pale.

I don't think you can get heavy coverage from mineral make up without looking caked, but if you like to keep it natural it's perfect.

Im a pale skin girlie also.

Ive tried alot of different brands of foundation, however recently I bought Benefits playstick foundation and find its brilliant. I get that really clear complexion look, that is very natural. Its like a conceler stick only little thicker and you apply it to your face and then blend with foundation brush. It comes in 8 different shades, is not cream but its not powder either, it has a lovely texture.
I use their Dr Feel Good also to try hide the dreaded blemishes, I find this good also however I find you need to but a heavy coat on, but your makeup lasts that bit longer.

It really is worth a try.

I'm super pale and also have quite sensitive combination skin.

The best matches I've found to date have been Make Up Forever's Linen (Clarendon Street) - liquid and provides good coverage, and more recently BareEscentuals / Bare Minerals ID foundation in Fair (the lightest one they have), which I get on eBay.

While the Make Up Forever foundation was the best I'd found to that point, I don't think I'll ever go back to liquid foundation now that I've used the mineral stuff! I use the BareEscentuals mineral veil (a sort of finishing powder) on top of the foundation and together they last much longer on my T-zone than any liquid foundation I've ever used. Added to that it is so quick to put on, there are no "border lines", and I definitely think my skin has calmed down a lot since I started using it.

Don't want to sound mean but my advice would be not to buy foundation online without checking it on you first. It can be an expensive mistake.
