Irish aid worker Sharon Commins and her Ugandan colleague, Hilda Kuwuki have been located and are to be released within days.
Sudan must be one of the most dangerous places to be at the moment. I am glad to hear they are located and hopefully they are ok. Fair play to them for trying to help the Sudanese people. Friggin disgusting that those that are there to help get kidnapped. I wonder if Ban Ki Moon stepped in to kick some ass?

I'd imagine there was quite a bit of political weight thrown behind the efforts to get them both back, the ARW offered up their services as well and as far as I know were on standby to head over.

There really should be more done to protect aid workers working in those parts of the world, thankfully this case didn't result in any fatalities.

Foreigners, regardless of their reason for being in the country, are most likely to be kidnapped because the assumption is their families have the money to pay ransom.

I volunteer teaching English to migrants and asylum seekers, there are a couple guys in my class from Sudan. They're really nice guys, and they are so happy to be here in Ireland.

Its just nice to know that there are people brave enough and selfless enough to put their personal safety second to helping others.

    Heroes, both of them.

I'm not sure whether I admire people who go over there or if they are just total nutjobs.
Still good to see they'll be getting out.

It's possible to admire total nutjobs!!!

While I would be hesitant to give a friend my blessing to go, people who want to help will go to where people need help.
