59 Minutes enough for a TRAIN connection in Toronto?

I'm going to be traveling from Montreal to New York by train and have to change trains in Toronto.

I have two options, the first gives me 59 minutes to change trains, the other gives me 2 and a half hours. Obviously I don't want to be hanging around for ages.

I emailed the train company and they said I should be fine.

But will it be enough to get off one train, find the platform and get on the other train?

Are Canadian trains known for their punctuality?

Punctuality tends to depend on distance. Trans-Canadian trans can be hours late. However, New York to Toronto is only about 500-600km, it should be relatively on time. Check that your ticket is valid for the next train.

Once its the same station and the train company say its OK, then it should be.
