Thinking of heading to Los Angeles for 5 days - week next March. Hopefully be there for Paddy's day.

Would love to catch a Dan Band concert or something while we're there and do some of the touristy stuff.

I'm pretty open minded and clueless at this stage. So really just looking for some useful info or recommendations like what area I should stay in etc

Difficult to suggest anything without knowing your age, interests, going on your own? Will you have a car ?

    Negative review here: Sorry

I personally just wouldn't go there at all. I was there last year for the first time in march for work. 1st stayed in http://www.standardhotels.com/los-angeles/.

If your very trendy, have model looks and like to look and be looked at, you might like it. It takes miles to get from one place to another. (Going from one stuck-up group of people to another, bit harsh., but people wanted to know who you were and what you did and how could they use you for their career advancement, if you weren't in their arena they moved on to find the next connection) Everything is spread out, miles from each other, you need a car or get cabs. When we went for dinner at night, it could take an hour's drive to get to the restaurant and an hour back. Order your cab in advance, they don't usually stop on the streets.

2nd wk stayed near Venice beach for a break after the 1st wk work. The beach is like Moore St with all the tat they try to sell you. T-shirts, caps, craft-art etc. People with mental heath problems and druggies live on the beach there now.

I just didn't enjoy it as a holiday location.

I'd go up a bit to San fran instead

Not much to LA and you definitely need a car.

Everything is so spread out and it takes forever to get nowhere because of the traffic.

I wouldn't go back there again - there are so so many batter places to go in the US.

If you want west coast go to San Fran or Seattle
