Club Championships. 60km. Corduff Circuit x 3. No handicaps.

Disaster for me. Got spat out the back on the first climb on the first lap (of three). 2nd lap on my tobler and was going to pack it in when I was caught by a group of 6. With renewed energy and God sent slipstreaming I spent the 3rd lap with this 6. My calves were going to explode in the last 5 kms and couldn't partake in our mini sprint for the line.

I guess thats what 7 weeks off the bike will do to ya!

Should have done the King of the Freds support race. Great craic (not) 2 of us sat on 80% of the time then jumped on the hill (both times).
The quality of the champs race scared me a bit

Sounds like marshalling was the most fun. The worst bit was stopping a car and telling them that there was 30 or so cyclists about 5 minutes down the road. He replied, "Lets see how many I can hit".

saw you at the start, didnt get a chance to say hi, watched the first group up the the five roads hill. in hindsight i should have done the support race and not bottled it. think i would of been fine. next time definitely. knid of had in my head after last sat that the standard might be higher but most of teh lads that do taht spin seemed to be well up in the main race. think you should have deffo done the main one!

PS who won the main race?

Andrew Meehan , he's been flying all year. Took it in a 2 up sprint with Stephen Halpin

I think Andrew Meehan won. I was in the group going for 3rd place but punctured.

What is it with racing and punctures? Every other race report I read (not yours that I recall, just generally) seems to mention getting a puncture, yet punctures in training seem very rare.

Is it the light tyres or problems avoiding potholes in a group?

Mine was a pinch flat. I think I hit a stone. It's difficult to avoid stones as you just can't see them when in the middle of the group and no one calls them.

Well done for finishing 2nd -- you're very quiet about that.

Why aren't you gloating more? I see you are without a signature, how about:

"Came 2nd in a race, Raam couldn't even get in a sprint for 3rd"

I'm a numbers man, all I see is LDB came 2nd and you couldn't even take 3rd! Details are irrelevant, take your beating like a man!
