You can share a dvd drive over a network. I've never tried it mind so I don't know how easy it is to do. I just copy the installation files to my usb key and install it that way. You could also use an iso ripper (lciso ripper is what I use) and something like daemon tools to mount the iso in a virtual dvd drive.

    Any reason not to?

All the review say that XP runs like a snail with SSD due to the slow response for disk swapping. My sprog has the acer one with a 160gb HD which is great.

If you wan to go for the SSD then dump xp and put on a linux variant.

    Better version Here
For a very similar price, works out about €210 inc. delivery, and its new , and its from a reliable seller.

If your getting a SSD one, get or create a nlite version of XP, install that, get yourself an 8gb SD card. Download portable apps, VLC, Google talk, Portable chrome, and put them on your SD card. Takes the load off the SDD and quicken things up

IIRC Acer didn't sell the SSD Acer with XP so the license may be dodgy.

Spend a bit more and get a hard drive and a real license.

lots of windows apps are bloatware so you will eat into the 8GB very quickly
