i have the exact same laptop same amount of time

mine is perfect ... it does in-fact sound like a virus......

best thing to do is try boot it in safe mode then back - up all the files.. onto an external hard drive and then scan the external drive for virus with mc afee / avast etc.

mine came with all my installation discs... 5/6 in total. which you can use to get everything back to brand new.

Try re-seating the RAM in it. Worth a shot.

thanks for the reply guys... im not very tech minded. but the computer itself actually wont turn on. should i just send it off to dell to get fixed? or if the video card IS blown as suggested above...is it dead as dead can be? dont really wana start messing with things i dont know about. ive never come across a laptop that actually wont turn on. its not battery either!

if your out of warranty dont send it to Dell... they always charge a bomb but if your still in warranty they might do it for free but check first.

if you are out of warranty check around other places for getting it fixed.

few ideas what it might be

    RAM
    HardDrive
    Chipset
just not placed properly and maybe just need to be put back into place

No. The video card is not blown. Something is funky, but card blown? I doubt it highly.

If you have a tech minded friend get them to look at it. also, try these steps and then post it in the virus and malware forum:

how do you know its not the card? if it was a virus it would get past the dell spash screen then go tits up, these laptops have a prob with the video card google it , or look on the dell forms and post a message there, you will get good feed back from dell techs. Could also be memory take battery and ac out theres a small panel on the bottom of laptop held in by a screw , try memory sticks one at a time , or give dell a bell:)
