I have some hairs on my shoulders, now its not excessively hairy at all. They're more like straggly hairs but I notice them and they annoy me and I am looking for the female point of view here. Should I shave them off? Whats the best method to maintain this area?

    Waxing...

It will put off some girls, others it wont... An ex was sooooooooooo hairy but it didnt put me off. He ended up getting laser to remove it but anywho, waxing is your best option if you want rid.

I've hairy shoulders, back and chest. It did bother me considerably until I started getting all 3 waxed. I get it done every 7 weeks now and its virtually pain free after a few treatments. My advise would be to go for it if it does bother you as much as it did me

I'd rather do this myself, can I get the products to wax myself?

Yes, but I really would advise for the first waxing anyway that you go to a professional! They know what they are doing and can point you in the right direction for future at-home waxings.

You can get wax strips or heatable wax in the chemist but it's much easier (and less painful!) to get it done professionally. Lots of beauticians do male waxing - it's really very common. If you are in Dublin, I know a salon that offers 50% off their standard prices on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Also, if possible, you should trim the hair before you wax. It's much easier to wax short hair - not too short though as the wax won't be able to get hairs that are very short.

I actually just shaved them this morning with shaving foam and a razor. Was that a stupid thing to do??

Might be a bit irritated but different strokes for different folks! Maybe go into a chemist and check if they have hair removal cream for shoulders? That is easy to use, no stubble and lasts longer, and no angry red bumps if you nick the skin!

Is there any reasons NOT to use hair removal cream for shoulders / back?? Im thinking there is or else anyone wanting to get rid of hair would use it instead of a more painfull or irrating option such as waxing and shaving......?

When you shave you are essentially slicing the hair off and the end of it becomes blunt - hence the stubble. Waxing lasts longer and the hair grows back softer so its not as noticable.

Hair removal creams can be good but don't last as long as waxing, as it's removal of the hair from the surface only. Waxing pulls the hair out from the root. I have tried many different things over the years - shaving, sugaring, waxing, epilating - and have found waxing to give the best results that lasted the longest.

    Thanks!

So hair removal cream sounds like a good start then to see how it goes maybe just before the holiday. I dont think I am brave enough to try waxing just yet.

As long as I dont end up with a 5 o clock shadow on my back I dont mind.... :)
