Thanks for asking. I was wondering myself. Even took a picture this morning to zoom closer. Looked to me like a crane for the harbour and some upright container.
    Hopefully someone knows more...

According to my Mother it looks like a Barge.

No idea what it's for though, sorry.

But strange to see a barge in Dublin Bay.

Thought so too or some strange oil platform. But it moved to Dublin Port this evening....

Edit/ But then again I only saw it last night for the first time. And if it is moving there already for days like Scubasteve said...Maybe that's it...

Yeah, I also think it looks like they're building something.
Did anyone notice the U-Boat bottom right?

there is a sewage pipe between sutton and ringsend, i wonder if it has something to do with that

It looks like a marine type of 'low loader'.

The main body of the vessel can be submerged to go underneath another vessel/object or something similar and then lift it to where it's required.

kleefarr thats a bit of wood in the bottom right of the pick not a U-boat. The water there is about 4ft deep LOL :D

There's a massive shark at the right of the picture!

    :D
    First it's a U-Boat, now a shark...any other suggestions?

    (I vote for a buoy)

The funny looking "ship" is the Eide Barge 33 a semi submersible heavy lift barge. Used for carrying heavy loads by sea.

    eg:

The other ship, the Statesman is an ocean going tug which tows the barge around.

The shark/u-boat object is a yacht racing buoy used during the summer by yachts racing in Dublin bay.

It looks like a sailing mark to me - a marker buoy for sailing race route.
