If anyone who had a decent job here, had the chance to move to australia or new zealand with a job offer would they go? Or would they ride out the recession?

Depends on what you're giving up to go.
Personally if I had no ties (mortgage, husband etc) and the job offer was for a decent sustainable job, I'd be out of here in a flash, you wouldn't see me for dust!!!The way things are going it's only going to get worse here, and the Gov are doing feck all to try and improve the situation.
If you've a partner and they're prepared to go with you and the offer is for a decent job, which won't die a death within the next few months, then for God's sake, go!There's very little to stay here for.

Depends on how secure you feel your job is here i guess. Australia's economy is not exactly firing.

I would still go without a job offer as long as I could get accomodation. This country is the pits now with or without a job. I'd rent my house house and as long as it paid the mortgage I'd be happy.

I've got a decent, well paid job that appears to be relatively secure in the short to medium term. If the right position came up then my decision making would be relatively similar to what it was before the downturn. It would need to be a good opportunity for me to seriously consider it though. The main difference would probably be the extra complications that would now arise dealing with various things that I have money tied up in.

If considerations line up right then getting the hell out of dodge sounds like a smart move to me...
