Who out of the current rosters can you see eventually making the transition as main eventers challenging for the WWE/WH titles?

I have high hopes for Jack Swagger, John Morrison and MVP especially, and I think with a little time Evan Bourne could become something of a new Rey Mysterio.

    Any ideas people?

Depending on how you look at it, (Edge, Cena, HHH, Undertaker, Batista, Orton and HBK being the constants in the main event scene when healthy, with other people being plugged in against them) I think:

CM Punk can definitely cement himself
    J. Hardy is just about there.
MVP might, if he can get a solid push but time is running out
    Swagger definitely

I think Christian will get a couple of main events against Edge or Jericho
Matt will get a couple against Jeff when he comes back.
Morrison I'd see as being outside chance. I like him, but he needs a little more time to get there, and he's going to snap himself in half one of these days.

I'd love to see Christian get the push but I'm losing faith at this stage, Matt Hardy I was sure would get a main event break but his new character is awful.

CM Punk should definately cement himself into the big picture, whereas Jeff is reported to be leaving..Morrison/Swagger/MVP would all require a good bit of time to build momentum to make the jump to ME, but I think they all have the potential.

Matt is out at the moment, he has a hernia so that's him done for a bit. I think he's awesome, personally, and him on the mic in the I Quit match really proved he could use a mic. He's a natural against Jeff, too. His more grounded stuff works well for him. And the MMA elbows don't hurt.

Christian is really getting good reactions at the moment, I think he was going to be pushed up against Edge, once Edge was healed up from his injuries until the present disaster. I think he's headed up, probably smackdown. Hopefully.

Jeff is reported to be leaving, but I dunno. I don't see him being gone for the next year (I've been very very wrong before). They need him at the moment with injuries and Undertaker being gone, and CM Punk turning heel.

Swagger came in at the main event on Raw, so I can see him being an ancillary member of Legacy (without being a second generation). He's being positioned high, I think.

I think Morrison should change his finisher, too. Starship Pain looks awesome, but it doesn't look like it hurts very much. Maybe it's just me.

I don;t want it but I'd expect Dibiase vs. Orton for the title when the Marine 2 comes out. Morrison will definitely get there soon enough, got a victory over the champion only the other day. Swagger will sink or swim now I'm 50/50 on which way. Like him but he's not guaranteed anything. Miz could make it if they actually let him win one of the feuds he's in. Getting himself over easily enough again. As a long shot I'd say Tyson Kidd

The one problem with Jo Mo is getting him over with the casual fans. The so called smarks love him as do the ladies but the rest of the audience seem very cold to him. Swagger should make it, he has it but sadly I reckon Smith is destined for a much stronger push than Kidd.
Please tell me I am not the only one who rates Dolph very highly?:(

Swagger,MVP,Bourne,The Hart Dynasty and DiBiase could all be main-eventers in the future, Outside hopes would be The Miz,Morrison,Ziggler,M Hardy.
With the risk of being flamed I want Mark Henry to get a nice push:P

    Dolph Rules.

Iw as reminded of Curt Hennig when I saw him bumping like a maniac for Khali.

i still dont know about swagger, while he is very good in the ring i dont like his "acting", his fake smile and thumbs against the chest entrance just really annoy me!

    Your not the only one.

Last time this came up, pre kennedy's firing i said dolph as an oustide bet. I think he had just moved to smackdown and had beaten MVP. Now I think he has become better than an outside bet.

I think Dolph will be great if he avoids the wellness problems and gets to stay on smackdown. He has a good wrestling background and brought up the wwe way over a good few years now.

That's what good heels do though. ;)

Exactly as Rjd said the little things like the fake smile are exactly there just to annoy you. All the heels do it when they are still building themselves up to be heels just annoy people. Swagger is gonna be a top class star but ever now and again we have these "The future of WWE" threads and stuff like that but the only problem is the booking. A lot of these people have the ability to make it big be the next top man but WWE seem reluctent to push anyone other than the usual suspects. Even Jeff Hardy who is mega over they are only giving title chances and when he does get the title he is losing it after 2 weeks.

As much as I would like to say Cody Rhodes as I adore that man I don't think he will be anything other than an Intercontinental Champion and its really dissapointing to say that as I adore the man. They are trying to get Ted DiBiase for a future Main Event which I don't like as I prefer Cody he offers something different than Ted who is the exact same mould as everyone else that has been in the Main Event in the past 10 years.

Christian needs more mic time and a good feud (preferably with Jericho) and he could be a top main eventer - he already is a top mid carder

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,376 ✭✭✭✭rossie1977

when and if these guys have a son i predict him to be a main-eventer for years to come

Dolph Ziggler good guy have hope for him after his jobber on raw

John Morrison best there is on sd will love to see him as wh camp some day

Hart Dynasty dont like then but wwe needs a tag team

Shéamus will be top of ecw before the end of the year

Ted DiBiase do not like him one bit

The Miz very good heal but do not like him as a jobber

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Morrison won't make it as a top superstar as he hasn't the mic skills and because he has the high pitched voice of a pre-pubescent boy. I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say Miz will be a bigger name three years from now than Morrisson.

Swagger looks a real talent, as does Ziggler.

But of the younger guys, Ted Dibiase is going to be a massive star. Right from the very first time he appeard on air he has carried himself like an absolute star. It's scary to see how good he is already. Give him another year or two and he'll be better than Orton.

Trying to think of someone outside the general consensus. I see enough in JTG, Ricky Ortiz and Festus to perhaps be surprising future top talents.

Festus with a gimmick tweak obviously. Hated Ortiz at the start but i don't know what it is but something is drawing him to me. No reason JTG can't grow when the day comes to drop that Shad anvil hanging around his neck.

Ortiz is 34:eek: He may need to get a move on. The JTG point is true, he is actually really good but Shad is no better than Kozlov.
On the ladies side, alicia Fox can be a real star if she steers clear of injury.

    Oh...

I thought Ortiz was a lot younger...

The age most wrestlers go to these days holds out some hope for him if he manages to avoid the chop. Still he needs to a bit quicker than others.

The only one I see there is Festus. JTG doesnt look like a guy that could be by himself. Festus on the other hand does

Ziggler has a great old school feel to him. The introduction gimmick is impossible to get over, so I'm hoping they drop it asap. Shame about the lack of top faces on Smackdown for him to work. A program with Finlay could do wonders for him.

MVP has it all (except a decent finisher). They need to give people a reason to cheer for him though.

Matt Hardy's current character is a step backwards from 'never say die', which in turn was a step backwards from V1. Based on his whiney promos on RAW, I'd say Hardy is an Upper Midcard player at best. Not that there is anything wrong with that. WWE need people to help bring in the new guys, and to job to rising and existing stars.

Besides calling Jericho a loser, JoMo hasn't given fans any reason to cheer for him. He still exudes the same arrogance and narcisism he had as ECWs number one heel. It's a confusing message for casual fans. Same can be said for Melina, actually. Still, looks great and ads something new to the mix, so I wouldn't count him out.

R Truth is over with the kids. I can see him being a merch machine. Compelling character and good on the mic. Decent in the ring. Alls he's lacking is a push.

Ted will be great in a few years. The only thing I'd hold against him is his very bland look. Even if he just put a $ on his tights it would help differentiate him.

Jack Swagger is amazing imo. I've enjoyed every match he's had. I love his entrance. His stick work needs improving before he can get over, though. He could do with a manager, actually. I don't know if it's his legitimate athleticism or his smirk or what, but there is something about him that makes me want to watch.

I'm also gonna throw in TBK, because I think he's hillarious. Never gonna happen, though.

But Swagger's mic work is even worse, his voice isn't much deeper and has the disadvantage of a lisp too. Just curious why do you see mic skills being a problem for JoMo but not Swagger?

Mic work could be a stumbling block for many very talented up and comers though. Need more managers and valets again to help those guys.

I used to have high hopes for Morrison but he just does nothing for me as a face. This whole "Smiling" John Morrison thing doesn't work. He has has no good reason to turn face.just turned up one week smiling and hey presto, he's a good guy. Def worked better as an arrogant heel.

Of the rest I'd def day Swagger (that guy is going to be huge), Ziggler and Dibiase.

Its hard to explain, but somehow, you're not surprised to hear that Swagger has a lisp and it actually adds to his character. Whereas Morrison's squeaky little voice is just laughable and not in a way that can be used to his advantage. I know that makes little sense but thats the best explanation I can give.:pac:

Exactly, they've never given us any reason to cheer for Morrison or care about the outcome of his matches. Pure lazy booking especially considering the few top faces they have at the moment with Jeff about to leave and HBK/Taker on extended hiatus.

I get the feeling they're trying to turn him into the classic smiling face..go out, smile and wave to the kiddies. Just another casualty of the PG era:mad:
