I was on the hunt for purple nail varnish, and I couldn't find it ANYWHERE - then I came to Boots on Grafton St, and HALLELUJAH! it's there in all it's beautiful purply glory. I snatched it up in delight, and gave a glance at the price tag - and nearly fell over. €14.99 for a normal sized bottle of nail varnish. Holy crap! Well, feeling very deflated (but defiant - who PAYS 14.99 for a frickin bottle of varnish?), I kept going, until I came to O'Connell St, and went into Hamilton & Long Pharmacy there. I bought the exact SAME bottle that was 14.99 in Boots, for 7.99 there! Just ridiculous.

On the other hand, I bought Dove tanning Moisturiser in Boots for 3.79 which I thought was really cheap! So I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with them @ the mo :D

Jebus! I bought a purple nail varnish in the Boots in Jervis today for like 4 something! It's Barry M and it is actually pretty decent, plus they have a special offer on Rimmel's new nail varnishes, two bottles for six yo yo's. So obviously, I bought two of those as well!
    What brand did you buy?!!!!

Has anyone tried the GOSH nail varnishes..I got a lovely deep purple one and it doesn't seem to dry, literally waited half an hour last night before I had to take it off because it kept going all over the place!

Rimmel nail polishes are great, and fairly reasonably prices. I have a purple one actually. and I love Barry M's colours but it takes a freakin age to dry

Am guilty of spending around Eur 20 on nail varnish - I used to wear Chanel to match my lipstick - now I go for Rimmel, I got a gorgeous purple one for less than Eur 5

It was Bourjois Nail Lacquer...was the cheapest one I could see!

I remember years ago I could pay about 2 euro for a bottle! ahhh how times have changed...

i can never find nail varnish for less than €5 - €6, even just for a clear one. maybe im just looking in the wrong places..?

  • That's insane. Even 8 euros is insane for a bottle of nail polish, though. It seems to be overpriced everywhere in Dublin, especially since it became 'trendy' and everyone is wearing it. I always get mine in London now for 2 or 3 pounds a bottle.

Are you serious, 8euro for a bottle of nail varnish??? I tend to use the ones from Dunnes these days, 2.29 or 2.99, dead cheap and dead handy...have a Rimmel one in deepest darkest purple which I'm pretty sure was well under a fiver in cost!

Got a GOSH bright red recently...didn't think that it took too long to dry but found that it chipped really quickly - only lasted about 1.5-2 days chip-free. However, I got a deep navy Rimmel one which is still chip-free about 8 days later even though I've been doing the same activities (working on a computer keyboard). And the Rimmel one was a few euro cheaper. Rimmel ftw!
Although I love the shade of red that GOSH do; not as pink or as glittery as other brands :o

Boots were doing an offer recently on Barry M nail varnish - two for €8. I wore my green varnish for the whole weekend (thurs-mon) and it lasted really well. They've some great colours! Gosh is also meant to last well.

Bought a Gosh nail varnish after hearing my sister rave about how good they were. Didn't find it took any longer to dry, and it had a lovely shiny finish. However it chipped really badly the next day. I wouldn't be rushing out to buy another one. I find No.7 are good for drying quickly and lasting ages.
