How are different cheese's thought of for quality weight gain?

    Hi all.
    I know cottage cheese is a good source of protein.How do the different cheese's stack up against it e.g would red cheddar or brie have similar ammounts of protein?

    I just wanted to know how they all stack up against one another.

    They wouldn't be equal if that's what you are getting at.
    Cheddar is at almost the other end of the spectrum to cottage (in terms of type).
    I imagine that fat and protein content varies accross all types of cheese. Cottage is low in fat and high in protein, obviously one of the reasons its popular. cheddar is much higher in fat I'd say.


    A quick google turns up the following.

    Creamed Cottage cheese, 100g
    Protein 11g
    Carbs 3g
    Fat 4g
    (for low fat versions change fat to 1g and protein to 12g)

    Cheddar cheese, 100g
    Protein 25g
    Carbs 1g
    Fat 33g

    So, while protein is huch higher, so is fat.
