    Well folks,

My father has been laid of from work from around start of february this year and hasn't made a single ounce of effort to look for a job. He just filed for a redundancy which i thought would make him do something but thats clearly not the case. My mother is the only person who currently has a job,but she aswell has been let off for the months of june and july. The reality is starting to sink in as the family funds are drying up. Now at this point we are barely getting by and my father is doing f*ck all about it,he complains about the ****ty economy and the bad decisions of the government which is putting a strain on our relationships. So my question to you is how can i make him get up off his arse and look for work? Thnx...

There is little to no work in a lot of sectors at the moment so rather than wasting time looking for non existant jobs it may be worth his while trying to upskill in some area.

He may not have great jobhunting skills. Has he signed up for any FAS courses?

You could help him by setting up on line job searches and online applications and the like as his IT skills may not be great.

Op I think you need to have some respect for your father, If it is his home and his relationship with his wife then you should respect them and how they are doing things, Your dad may have worked hard for a long time, it may be very tough to get a job right now for him and he may need some support, Is he signing on at the moment? does he qualify for mortgage relief, how does your mother feel about it?
