Question about Toronto connecting flights

I'm booking a flight from New York to Dublin but I have to book with Air Canada, so they've giving me this flight:

Newark - Toronto (Air Canada Jazz)

    Toronto - London (Air Canada)

    London- Dublin (BMI)

I don't have a problem with all the flight changes, but I'm wondering will my bags be tagged directly for Dublin when I'm in Newark? Also, is there any weird Customs/Immigration rules for connecting internationally through Toronto?

    Thanks

It shouldn't be a problem, but I suppose when you get to the end of each leg, check that the luggage has gone through.

As you aren't entering Canada or the UK, there shouldn't be any problems with customs.

Ok thanks, and how do I check that the luggage has gone through?

Yes - the bag should be checked at EWR for you.

You'll get a baggage tag. You can ask the agent at the boarding gate to check if the baggage is on the flight by giving them that tag/number and they should be able to find out.

Should be tagged all the way through with that combination and there isn't any immigration rubbish for xfer passengers through Canada like they would do in US airports.
