    Hi all,

I have just completed a new website www.corkage.ie as a sort of bolt on to my current business. This is the first website I have made after numerous false starts. Any feedback as to the idea, appearance, ease of use would be very much appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    TWG

    Hey Wine Guy,

Best of luck with the website, its a good idea and something is definately needed. I have a couple of pointers is all:

    1) Your home page is very busy and has a lot of banners. I struggled to notice the banner that explained what you do. This should be bigger and maybe on a seperate page with a continue type button which would bring you on to page two.

    2) Your major selling points, FREE DELIVERY and SALE OR RETURN are excellent selling points but again do not stand out enough. these should be really obvious and should be something noticed straight away. As soon as you go on and see those you'd say "wow thats great, Id be a fool not to buy here"

    3) related to point 2, I think maybe why I didnt notice the free del etc is the page is very colourful, maybe a little too colourful??

    4) your click on bottles thing didnt work great. I clicked on a bottle and it brought up a long spiel about the wine but had no close tab or was not laid out properly

    5) contact info was a little small tab, again was a little tough to find, Id have that on the top tab.

All that said, fantastic, hope I dint ruin the buzz..???

    Hi Wine Guy,

Looks good! Only small thing I'd change is the titles for each white and red wine, they're justified and it makes them a little impossible to read.

    Nice site – few pointers:
I was looking at it through Chrome and found the fonts (esp on the red) a little difficult on the eye – but that’s just me!

I really think that the idea could be better explained. (I went down the corkage road two years ago – so I appreciate where you are going).

I missed completely the free delivers and sale or return – one reading that the site made much more sense. Otherwise you site is an online off-licence – and
I would be better off in O Briens maybe. Those two points have to be hammered home .

It’s not in the ‘how it works section’ – where I jumped to.

As you say, it’s a big thing the wine, god be with the days you’d get away with Blue Nun!! People have a better pallet for it now. As it’s an important choice – maybe you could better backup for the wines section, individual awards, taste notes, reviews in x or y papers or mags – just to help the sale a little.

    AND free delivery and SoR...

    Cheers

Site looks very well and Id agree with the other posters that I never pickedup on the Free Delivery or Return offers.

    Just some small things:

None of your links have alt or title tags - A must have for your SEO

Make you logo a link back to the home page - Again add relevant SEO text here also to the title of the image.

I too think that the homepage is a little busy - maybe not so much busy but there are too many colours in it that seem to be clashing. There are 6 different colours for the boxes. I think you should have a look at this. From what I can remember I think the "experts" reccommend 3-4 max

Also the fact that you have a physical store is good, Put the address and contact phone numner some where in the site - best to have it on the Contact Us page and in the Footer on all of the pages.

Some work needs to be done on your wine listing page - Make the actual name of the wine a link and add title tags to the images of the wine. Also make the price bigger and stand out more. Im looking at the site in Firefox but when you click the wine image the modal popup is all messed up.

Other than that its a good job and best of luok with it

    Hey guys,

Thank you very much for taking the time to give feedback, it has been very helpful. I have forwarded all the comments to my web developper so hopefully he can implement some of the recommendations easily enough.

I was aware that the wines don't expand properly when clicked on. I am working on getting this fixed, down the road I would like each wine to expand into a proper tasting note with added information, that would have cost extra and I dont have a huge budget for this project at the moment.

Once again thanks guys, any tips re marketing etc. would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Wine guy,

Only marketing idea I can think of is the Irish Food and Wine magazine and I think its called Irish weddings or something. A small regular banner add with the logo, web address and a punchy catch line like "Wine for your wedding, FREE delivery and Sale or Return" etc

The Irish Food and Wine is a poor publication but there is good rates on advertising right now..

I like it mate, easy on the eye. You dont have any Brunellos listed though!!!

Perhaps a section for Fine wines, instead of the sparkling wines would be an option?

Thanks el rifle sorry about the lack of Brunello, the Baccanera Langhe is pretty damn good though, I am currently working on a plan for a dedicated fine wine site as I have access to a catalogue of really good vintage stuff...

Thanks Fusionnet am going to do a general press release to all the mags this week hopefully one or two of them bite. As i said PM me if I can be any help on your project,

    Cheers
