    Has HBO ever been wrong?

Think so man. I see on the video there that Hanks and Speilberg are mentioned so it should be.

Money well spent if it is anywhere near as good as Band of Brothers.

    Excellent news! Should be great.

At the time, BOB was the most expensive TV production ever was it not?

i'm only watching bob now, for some reason i kept putting it off and kind of forgot about it, i'm only 3 episodes watched so far but i must say wow what a show.

I'm afraid to watch the clip in case it gives anything away. Is it a real sequal or does it follow a differenr company?

its not a "sequel" its just produced by the same guys that were responsible for BOB

Yea I was gonna say: it doesn't look like it's from a Stephen Ambrose documentary. Shame.

Should still be deadly though. :)

Great news, haven't rewatched BoB for about 2 years now, must rectify this. Hope this turns out well, if it's the same crowd I'm fairly hopeful.

Apparently. Hanks said so in an interview in Empire a couple of months ago. Apparently some legal wranglings delayed it a few months. It's not a coproduction with BBC this time (As BoB was) and rumour has it that Sky have the rights, are going to show it on their HD movie channels. As someone said, BoB was the most expensive miniseries at the time: $120 million and this has a $200 million budget.

It's following an entire different troop with a possible cameo from the ubiquitious Dale Dye (As usual, he's the military advisor).

Oh, and Isabel Lucas is in it :)

    Totally rad news!
It sounds like Michael Kamen score on it aswell (if that music belongs to it...)

Have you guys seen Generation Kill?
I think it's like BoB but in Iraq, by the same people who made The Wire, check it out.

Looks like there will be more 'home' scenes in this compared to BoB. Here's hoping they get the characters right, otherwise..

March or April 2010 seems more realistic, don't believe IMDB.

I just ordered Generation Kill off Play. If I don't love this show, you owe me 35.49!

Back to the OP: this looks fantastic! It's great to be excited about a new TV show again; I thought I owned all the good ones at this stage. In fact, it's been about a year since I watched Band of Brothers - maybe it's time for another go around? It will be my fifth time, I think... possibly sixth.

This is going to be fantastic. BoB remains one of the finest pieces of telivision ever made, and everyone should watch it.

The music towards the end of the trailer is from Stardust, composed by Ilan Eshkeri iirc. Great score.

It's really good news about this, I loved Band of Brothers, I loved the way I got really interested in the charactors in the show(mainly because they are based on real people). I can't wait for this. It will actually be something good among all the reality s**te and talentless shows all over TV these days.

Why not? Is Godzilla scarier than a T-Rex?

Looks good, but I wonder will the characters be as good etc. Is it a fictional story or more based on real people like BoB was?

As far as I'm aware, it's the same dealio when it comes to being based off actual accounts.

There will be one fairly major difference in style though: apparently it goes past VJ and looks at how the troops deal with going home after the war. Some of BoB took place in Europe after the war, but only an episode as I recall (which is fair, as the war wasn't over at that stage).

its based on two books of firsthand accounts
