    Hi,

Apologies for the rambling title of the thread! I have a Dell Inspiron and have found that when I connect it to my LCD (Sony Bravia V3000) using the HDMI cable it doesn't, except when I am playing a DVD on it, pick up the audio. Can someone point me in the right direction? When it's connected and I have say something from youtube on the sound will come through the laptops speakers, I've checked the sounds in control panel and can't see what the problem is. When I play a DVD it the TV picks up the audio properly, am I doing something wrong??? It is the TV? I have another Philips LCD which has this 'easyplay' facility and when I connect using the HDMI to it it does pick the audio up automatically. Can someone help??

    Thanks,

    Jack

    Hi,

Thanks for that, I had tried that before and it didn't work (wouldnt let me select the option to set as primary device - it was greyed out). I had a youtube video on the go before I plugged the HDMI cable in and no joy. However I opened a new internet explorer window and hey presto it picked up the audio without having to mess with the settings. I googled it and came across someone with a similar problem and it was recommeded that they try your solution and open a new browser window (if that's what they were trying to playback). It makes sense in that previously when I had tried a DVD it had worked, probably because I had inserted the dvd and started the player program after the HDMI cable was plugged in. Thanks for the help, it was driving me mental!!!!!

simply refreshing the youtube page usually works for me. but resetting the browser/offending program is always a good place to start icon14.gif
