I doubt it, nearly everyone on this forum has a PS3 (or some with PSP's)... but you may find somebody who has just a PS2 (but then they will probably have an Xbox 360 or a Wii as well...)

Do you still play your PS2 regulary and buy games for it...?

Have a PS2 and PS3 but the PS2 gets used all the time and the PS3 is gathering dust. Still have a whole heap of quality titles on my PS2 that need finishing.

I have the old fat PS2 and a PS3, I really only use the PS2 as a DVD player, i've put some mileage up on the old dear.

Have a slim PS2 I'd love to get a PS3 but don't play then enough to justify it. It'd be used for a few weeks and them just get turned on the odd time after that.

Far too many excellent games to get rid of the PS2. Especially since my PS3 is still not backwards compatible.

Still kind of amazed at the PS2's continued high sales.

I don't have a PS2 and I apologise if this is a little OT, but I'm looking to get one, probably second hand. Were there any specific models less reliable than others? Like is the Slim one more reliable than the older one?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 180 ✭✭IsMiseConor

Get the slim one, you can pick one up second hand in gamestop for €50 with an extra controller.

My friend got one there last week and they had loads of them (in gamestop swords anyway)

    Yep! I've a PS1, Broken fat PS2, Slim PS2, PSP-2000, but alas no PS3. Don't have a 360 either. So I don't have any next gen consol;es really.Wich I'd a PS3.Broke though.Still read this forum religiously however.

The newer the better. The modelss until near the end of the PS2's life were notoriously unreliable with the lasers failing all the time. Better off getting a slimline one or if you want to use the hard disk exploit get the last model PS2 phat.

A slimline PS2, have not played in ages, and a DS, thats it

Still play my slim ps2 for SMT games like Retro. Need to replace the screen i have as it has no component and the image through a VGA box isn't great. Though the screen is 1080p and if the software back compat comes to ps3 i won't need to :D

Gta San ANdreas, Devil May Cry,soul calibur 3 and mortal kombat Armageddon.
Special personal points to Godzilla and Monster Hunter(the very first one), but Shadow of the Colossus is best.

I have a chipped phat PS2, although it's under the bed gathering dust. PS3 gets used almost daily mostly for watching stuff I download off the tinternet. Haven't played a game on it for a couple of months now. In fact, I haven't played much of anything lately.

Luckily, my PS3 is backwards compatible. I still regularly play some PS2 and PS1 games (well, only Metal Gear Solid for PS1).

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Devil May Cry 3, SSX 3 and Tricky still get the odd playthrough every now and again

Bf and I both have fat PS2's, it's still a brilliant console it's such a shame they're not making the range of games for it anymore. I don't want to throw it out cause it's still brilliant and seems such a waste!

i have a fat PS2 that I'm trying to sell :pac:. it's because my PS3 is backwards compatible so there's no need for it.

Trying to get rid of a few PS2 games as well

I'm addicted to metal gear solid 1 and 2. The only one I need is 3 and I can't find it anywhere. :pac:

Find it, order it online if you have to. Arguably the best in the series. Well, to me it is anyway. Works on the PS3 as well.

I've just got a PS2 and ain't got a next gen. The slim is great, it plays Metal Gear Solid VR Missions which the original PS2 didn't. It also doesn't make noise and eat up like the original. The only thing is , with the "blue" CDrom discs it makes a lot of noise cause they seem to spin a lot faster.

I have the slim ps2, I still use it. I have a ps3, I was given it by a friend, he said I could keep it but one day I'll give it back. so technically speaking i don't own it. I've had it for about a year and a half now, I only brought 4 games for it. I didn't see the point buying anymore incase they ask for it back.
