    Hello,

Hoping someone here can help before I begin the painful process
of actually ringing Sky and going through scripted customer response.

I've had Sky Digital for the last few years, I've always got
the odd glitch where I get No satellite signal is being received on the odd
channel from time to time, and usually powering off the box or flicking around the channels, 2 up and one down did the trick.....but.....
    ..
For the last couple of weeks over half my channels are giving me the
"No satellite signal being received" It started with Discovery Channel,
but now its Sky 1, Sky Movies, nearly all the Channels starting with "Sky" before
them dont work. (With the exception of Sky News) and other channels like
Discovery/TC Movies/True movies etc all dont work.
RTE, BBC, TV3, E4 all work fine.

I've tried powering off the box, unplugging it, I've tried updating the firmware,
and tried going through some of the stuff in the Sky help page where it
tells you to goto channel 105? which does not exist. I could not see a section
in the system set up that allowed me to reset the LNB.

I have Sky with the Movie Package,
    I dont have Sky Plus.
    My Dish Has not moved,
My Signal Strength looks to be around 80% same as day1
My Signal Quality looks to be around 60% same as day1
Apart from the Initial activation I've never had a phone line connected to my box
as I dont use any of the active features (and I dont want a line in the box)

There's no such thing as "reset the LNB". It contains no processor. You can turn the LNB voltage off and on in the Installer Menu but don't expect it to do anything unless you have a Panasonic Digibox.

Now, please tell us your MAKE and MODEL number from the label underneath.
If it's Grundig or Thomson see http://www.satcure.co.uk/gds200.htm

If the Digibox is not faulty (test it on a different dish) then you have:
    A faulty LNB.
A faulty LNB cable or connection.
    Trees in the signal path.
    Local interference.

Cheers for the info its a Grundig dunno the model number
as I'm in work at the moment and forgot to check.
Chatting to a lad from work who saw this post he reckons my
    dish has moved.

I must log exactly which channels I cannot see.

So far I think channels on 28.2E Astra 2D? are OK as
    Ch4, RTE, BBC etc.

But channels on 28.5E Eurobird1 I am getting getting
no signal with. Sky1 Skymovies premier etc

Will borrow a Ladder and maybe a satellite meter at the weekend and
see if a slight adjustment helps.

Have you a cordless phone anywhere near the box. If so this may be causing the problem. We had panasonic cordless phones near our box and it was stopping channels coming through.

Could this be to do with the new Sky Digital Card changeover?

I got mine in the post yesterday and I've got a few channels in the past few weeks giving this message but I haven't got any since.

Could be your box, Grundig boxes are notorious for their Tuners to start failing, if you are missing channels 110, 998 and 112 its a good sign however It could be out of alignment....

I've never known a Grundig tuner fail. However, the PSU always fails. See link above. The symptoms are typical. You'll need the PSU capacitor kit.

I Still have not got around to opening up my Sky Box to check for swollen capacitors,
but am hoping to borrow one at the weekend to test to see if its my box that is causing
the issues I am seeing with my channels.

Not sure what the story is with the Sky Card being paired to a box or if I can use my
own Sky Card with someone else's box thats already been paired with their own card.

I also got a new White card, that made no difference to the issue's I am seeing.

So far with the issue I am seeing.
I've tried re-aligning the dish, was up on the roof with a signal meter and
tried making very tiny adjustments to the dish. Seem to have good signal strength.
(I was amazed the slightest little tap could throw the whole thing out)

I tried changing the LMB to see if that was the cause and it was not.

Someone mentioned about it may be the polarity of the channels,
But Both Sky1 and RTE1 have the same polarity and I can view RTE1 but not Sky1.

Here is a list of some of the channels I can no longer view,
I wonder if there is something in common with all of them

Wondering maybe its Astra 2A channels giving the issue
but its at 28.2E and I have channels working at 28.2E.

Then again the likes of Sky Real lives etc are on 2D and
RTE 1 is on 2D and I get one but not the other.

Tried changing the elevation a bit when using the signal meter
it got a tiny'ist stronger signal when tilter upwards ever ever so
slightly but did not make a difference in getting any channels back.
